Gulfport has felt the sting of the recent recession as evident by the number of vacant or abandoned houses peppered about. A good portion of the population are “Snowbirds” seeking to escape the northern winter. The tighter economy has led many to put their properties on the market or in other cases not have the time or funds to come down and enjoy the mild Florida winters.
